Gold Vermeil (pronounced ‘ver-may’) is a luxurious material made by bonding a thick layer of solid gold to high-quality sterling silver. To qualify as true Vermeil, the base must be sterling silver – not cheaper alternatives. This combination not only delivers a rich, golden appearance but is also hypoallergenic, making it safe for sensitive skin. The substantial gold layer enhances durability and helps protect the jewelry from tarnishing and everyday wear, ensuring lasting beauty.
Gold Quality: The gold used in Vermeil must be at least 10 karats (abbreviated as kt.), but higher-quality gold is typically used, such as 14kt., 18kt., or even up to 24kt. The gold layer must be a minimum of 2.5 microns thick, which is significantly thicker than standard gold-plated jewelry, offering enhanced durability. Fecini exclusively uses 18kt. or 24kt. gold in our Vermeil plating, with a 3-micron thick layer for enhanced quality and long-lasting durability.
Quality Stamps: All our Gold Vermeil designs are stamped with “925” to certify the authenticity and purity of the sterling silver, ensuring you receive the highest quality in every piece.
Every piece of jewelry is thoughtfully crafted to ensure longevity, from the initial design phase through to prototyping, development, and final production. To maintain the originality and durability of your jewelry, we encourage you to carefully follow our jewelry care guide.
All our jewellery is handcrafted, utilizing locally sourced, recycled materials from some of the finest factories in the world. Skilled professionals oversee each step of the production process to guarantee top-notch quality. However, due to the delicate nature of each piece, proper care is essential.
Everyday Care: To prolong the life of your jewelry, remove it when cleaning, bathing, or sleeping, and keep it away from heat sources. Avoid direct contact with water and chemicals, such as chlorine, soap, hair-spray, perfume and makeup, as these can dull the finish and lead to discoloration or oxidation. Stones may also be affected by exposure to water or damp conditions, so we advise against storing jewelry in the bathroom.
Handle your jewelry gently to avoid impacts, especially with rings, which are more vulnerable to damage. Collisions with hard surfaces may cause deformation or loosen stones, and layering rings can increase wear on stone settings.
Cleaning: To clean your jewelry, use warm water and soap that is free from harsh chemicals or opt for a professional cleaning kit. For best results, have your jewelry cleaned by a professional jeweler annually. Stone settings are particularly fragile and should always be handled by a professional for cleaning.
Storing: We recommend storing each piece individually in its original jewelry box or pouch to prevent wear and protect it from direct sunlight exposure.
Metals: Our jewelry is crafted exclusively from recycled precious metals, such as 925 sterling silver and 18kt. to 24kt. gold. Silver and gold is soft metals, and pieces like rings may develop dents or scratches over time. These marks are not considered defects but signs of regular wear. Over time, the surface will soften as the scratches blend into each other.
All of our silver jewelry is treated with anti-tarnish protection and often plated with white rhodium to enhance durability. Although oxidation may still occur over time, gently wiping your jewelry with a soft cloth after each use helps reduce buildup and preserve its luster.
Our gold-plated pieces feature a 3-micron layer of 18kt. or 24kt. gold. The plating will wear off naturally with use, but it can be re-plated by a jeweler. Keep in mind that due to our unique gold finish, re-plating may result in a slightly different appearance.
Avoid excessive force when opening or closing locks, and familiarize yourself with the mechanism to prevent damage. Chains and bracelets should not be pulled or bent, as they are susceptible to breaking. To store chains without tangling, place them in a soft pouch to prevent bending or breakage.
Stones: All stones used in our jewelry are ethically sourced and of the highest quality. Each natural stone may vary in pattern and appearance, making your piece truly one-of-a-kind. While stones differ in hardness, all are delicate and can chip or crack if struck against a hard surface. Rings and ear cuffs with gemstones should never be bent or reshaped, as this may compromise the settings and cause stones to loosen or fall out.
We recommend having jewelry with stones, especially those with multiple stones, checked annually by a jeweler to ensure the settings remain secure.
